Dolgellau: and then it rained...

...and then it rained some more.
We persevered with a walk with friends who had joined us, all wrapped up in waterproofs.
It started well, through woodland and across farmland with lovely remote houses and barns, even a rather nice 1970's static caravan providing shelter for sheep. If you've been watching George Clarke's Amazing Spaces, you will recognise this style of caravan... I nearly tweeted him a picture of it!
Strong wind then joined the rain, driving it through even the most 'waterproof' of coats. It was a case of gritting your teeth and squelching on.
Dry socks and a cup of tea were never so good when we got back.

The following day was brighter, thankfully.
Exploring some rivers and woods.
The woods here are so rich with mosses, lichens and ferns. Everything is smothered with them.
A walk over the hills into the next valley.
Spotted some Meadow Pipits and Stonechats along the way.
Got a little bit lost, so resorted to Littlest one to map read!

One more Dolgellau installment to go if you can take it!

Other Dolgellau posts:
setting up camp
up Cadair Idris
and finally... cycling
